The Great Escape Elevate

The career development programme from CMU:DIY and The Great Escape

In 2019 CMU:DIY and The Great Escape teamed up to launch Elevate, a career development programme for early-career music professionals funded by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. Participants get an enhanced and subsidised delegate experience at TGE, with personalised schedules, bespoke sessions and personal network building opportunities.

WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?
The core TGE Elevate programme saw thirty super-delegates – including artists, managers, promoters, label executives and music educators – enjoy an enhanced, subsidised and curated delegate experience at TGE. This included a personally created conference schedule, access to invite-only seminars and networking events, and Q&A sessions with a number of music industry VIPs.

HOW WERE PARTICIPANTS SELECTED?
TGE worked with organisations like the Association Of Independent Music, the Association Of Independent Promoters, the Featured Artists Coalition, the Music Venue Trust, Creative & Cultural Skills and the Music Managers Forum to identify participants for the core programme. Each of these organisations nominated a long-list of people from which the final team of Elevate delegates were chosen by CMU:DIY and TGE HQ.

WHO ELSE BENEFITED FROM TGE ELEVATE?
In addition to the core super-delegate programme, TGE Elevate also supported the next generation of music industry leaders in other ways as well – in particular via a series of Elevate Seminars presented as part of the O2 Presents: DIY Academy programme at TGE 2019. Curated by CMU:DIY, these were open to all TGE delegates and festival wristband holders.

Look out for details about future TGE Elevate initiatives from CMU:DIY and The Great Escape going live here soon.
